Test Code LAB9946 Acylcarnitine Profile, Quant
Aliases
ACP
Performing Section
Biochemical Genetics
Purpose/Principle
In this test, serum/plasma acylcarnitines are mixed with labeled internal standards, the protein is removed and the acylcarnitines are derivatized with butanolic HCL. The resulting butyl esters are separated and quantified via liquid chromatography tandem mass spectrometry. Patient values are compared to age related controls.
