Purpose/Principle

Flow cytometry analysis of B Cell subsets including naive, memory (class-switched and unswitched), transitional and CD21lo B cells, and plasmablasts.

Whole Blood:
Purple Top-EDTA (Preferred)
Dark Green Top-Sodium Heparin

Specimen Volume

Preferred: 3.0 mL
Minimum: 1.0 mL

Processing Instructions

Submit whole blood -DO NOT CENTRIFUGE.
Store and send ambient.
Sample must received into the lab Monday-Friday(before noon). Do not send sample on Friday (after noon), Saturday, Sunday or holidays.

This test should NOT be ordered without first confirming that the patient has B cells. If the patient has been on rituximab or similar B cell depleting therapy, then a TBNK PANEL [LAB7755] should be ordered to evaluate B cell numbers prior to ordering comprehensive B cell phenotyping.
