Purpose/Principle

The Cepheid Xpert MRSA/SA Skin and Soft Tissues Infection Assay (Xpert MRSA/SA SSTI Assay) is a qualitative in vitro diagnostic test cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration to detect SA and MRSA from skin and soft tissue infection swabs in less than two hours. This test utilizes automated realtime polymerase chain reaction to detect MRSA and SA DNA.
