Test Code LAB7322 Epstein Barr Virus PCR Quantitative

Performing Section

Microbiology

Purpose/Principle

This test is used to monitor immunocompromised patients (i.e. solid organ or bone marrow transplant, HIV/AIDS, etc.), detect EBV-associated lymphoproliferative disorders, and assess treatment response. In this assay, DNA, extracted from patient samples, is subjected to real-time PCR amplification using primers and a dual-labeled fluorescent probe directed against a sequence of the EBV LMP2A gene.
